For the knowledge of all #Parents, #Women, #Schools, #Teachers, #Journalists and others dealing with kids and issues like such, it is important that you understand this for your own benefit.
There is a HUGE difference between #SAFETY and #SECURITY. I can bet most law enforcement personnel donot know this difference either. Without knowing this elementary difference, you can write about or have panel discussions for days and months and you will still not reach any conclusion. Please read through this and share with those you care, to educate.
SAFETY
When you think of the word SAFE, what usually comes to mind is the metal box with a door fitted with a sophisticated lock. That which is used to secure what is kept within. But however strong this box maybe, we have known cases where it has been broken into, compromising the SAFETY of its content.
SECURITY
When you think of SECURITY, what usually comes to mind (in the west) is a well built personnel wearing black tactical jacket, probably a bullet proof, with visible weapons around his hip and/or chest, tactical pants and combat boots. In India, we would think of a 'Milkman turned Security guard' wearing a plain uniform, chappal in most cases and a stick just enough to scare dogs entering his perimeter.
Taking the western image of SECURITY into consideration, you know for a fact that breaching this personnel will be much much more difficult and will involve some collateral damage at the end of the attacker. Which means - It is the ability to FIGHT BACK and DEFEND itself, that differentiates between SAFETY AND SECURITY.
THAT WHICH MUST BE SAFE, MUST FIRST BE SECURED.
Now talking about our 'Milkman turned Security'. The fact that you allow your security agencies to supply you such DISGUSTING QUALITY of men sends a signal to me (thinking like a criminal) that you are not serious about your security and safety. Nor are you serious about your kids. And as sir #PraveenSood said, a police verification cannot accurately tell you their character. But tools used by Security Professionals CAN !
By visible security deterrents ANY crime can be STOPPED. And we must understand one thing, Educational Institutions are not CLASSIFIED criminal playgrounds. But are classified SOFT TARGETS. So our focus must be to install visible security deterrence and make them Hard Targets for all criminal action and intent.
Molestation and rapes in education institutions can be STOPPED with few tactical measures. It is not a big deal. The Big Question is - Are you willing to hire Security Professionals to secure your loved ones. Or would you like to continue with the Ex-MILKMEN ?
Personal Security is a PERSONAL Responsibility !
